I like to compare stress to pooping.
Not exactly the most beautiful or inspiring metaphor but there are no other metaphors that parallels the relief of stress like going to the bathroom after a 6-hour road trip.
Stress is not something you can hold.
It is not something you can see.
It is not something you can smell.
But it is something you can FEEL.
And it gets stronger over time if it is not released from your body.
When deadlines are always on your mind,
You eat a burrito.
When your exams are back to back,
Your stomach churns.
When your boss calls you in on your off day,
Nature decides to call.
Stress will always quietly build up until you address it.
If you ignore it,
It will intensify until you are a gnarly and stinky mess.
So go to the bathroom daily,
Or go kick a punching bag,
Or just go to a karaoke with your friends.
If not, it will be released at the most unwelcomed times like 2 steps before you get to the bathroom.
Just those dreaded two steps…
